Freedom. Opportunity. Prosperity.

Defending Constitutional Freedoms:

George Washington declared, “The Constitution is the guide which I will never abandon.” I pledge to hold to that same ideal of faith and allegiance to the constitution. Why? The first 10 amendments, Bill of Rights, were created to allow all citizens to have maximum freedom from big government.

The Constitution is NOT a fluid document subject to convenient interpretation. Let us demand that it be allowed to remain firm with its foundation so that we may preserve our posterity’s freedom.

Economy and Jobs:

My job as your congresswoman will be to get Washington, DC out of our way, so that the Texan entrepreneurial spirit can grow, prosper and produce jobs!

Nationally:

  • I support reducing the corporate tax rate and therefore creating the environment for increased job creation.
  • I support reducing the personal tax rate and simplifying the current tax code by working toward a fair tax.
  • Ease the overburden of federal regulation i.e. EPA, taxation and promote legislation that eases private growth and entrepreneurship.

Locally:

  • Counties must work together to maximize, utilize and enhance the current working economic sectors. I have a plan that will facilitate our ability to promote the District’s current sectors: tourism, oil/gas, agriculture.
  • My plan will utilize a Collaborative Efforts Board that works within and across the district counties. This board will provide oversight of federal dollars (and accountability to the people) and ensure cooperation among local entities. The usage of Federal dollars must be done in a transparent way and monies must be spent wisely and utilized to its maximum. It is not about fighting for more Washington dollars; it’s about keeping our dollars in Texas and using them wisely.

Spending :

Our district’s tax payers send tax dollars to Washington and we deserve to get our money back. I will not let D.C. spend our money how it wants; we will keep more of our money within Texas.

  • No more “blank check bills” – every bill must come with a budget.
  • I support a Balanced Budget Amendment to reign in out of control government spending.
  • Reduce all around tax rates  and implement tax reform that leads to a Fair Tax.
  • Cut government spending and therefore alleviate the excessive tax increase (no taxation without representation).
  • We must decrease the national debt.
    • It starts with shrinking government and its independent organizations
    • Every department budget must be justified with zero-based budgeting
    • We must audit the Federal Reserve
    • No more “too big to fail”

Border Security:

Border security is not an immigration policy.

  • Strategic fencing is optimal, but that isn’t what we have now.
  • In the name of security, the border fence has robbed American citizens from an essential element of freedom: private property rights. Government placing a fence on someone’s property is infringing on that Founding Freedom.
  • More border patrol agents who are allowed to fulfill their duties.
  • I support agents on the ground making smart judgment calls in defense of our borders and in defense of their personal safety. I do not support a “militarized zone” with unmanned surveillance of our citizens along our borders.
  • Economic Perspective on Border Security:
    • There is a balance between the safety and security of our citizenry, a smart immigration policy and economic growth. Our district must have a balanced approach.
    • If Mexico needs American taxpayer dollars to curb cartel violence, then Washington must demand results trough benchmarks and accountability. “No accountability” aid must stop.

Big Government versus State’s Rights:

Bigger federal government equals more legislation which infringes upon state’s rights. I am not a big government conservative; I am a constitutional conservative.

  • We must stop overreaching with massive intrusive legislation; instead, we must put the brakes on the expansion of government and its agencies.
  • As a member of Congress, if legislation is un-constitutional like NDAA or Obamacare, I will vote no. Voting “yes” would cost millions of taxpayer dollars in unnecessary government spending defending bad law in the courts and waste taxpayer’s time.
  • Washington has taken “provide for the general welfare” to mean “guarantee individual welfare.” By doing so, Washington has used this as an excuse to overreach and over legislate.
  • Let Texas keep more of its money and take care of its economy, educational system, growth and industry.

Pro-Life:

“Ending a pregnancy through abortion interrupts the natural birth process and creates significant trauma and stress for those involved in the pregnancy. An abortion is a tragic ending, not only because of the loss of a life, but also because of the physical and psychological trauma caused by the procedure itself.”  – Governor Rick Perry

I believe life begins at fertilization when a cell with 46 chromosomes begins to divide, begins to become a zygote. Some pro-abortion supporters argue life began after the baby was born and took its first breath outside of the womb; however, courts, congress, science and theology are in agreement that life begins at conception.

I am pro-life in all circumstances even in the case of rape and incest.  Termination of a pregnancy as a medical procedure when needed (as in the case of ectopic pregnancies) should be available and performed by a medical doctor in a controlled environment. Abortion should never be provided as a means of birth control nor in a “drive-thru” manner as many of the “pro-choice” clinics do. These clinics function under the guise that these abortions are being done as a favor to victims or rape, incest or women whose life is in danger when statistically these clinics do not provide services for these types of pregnancies as a whole.

Troops, Veterans and Military Families:

  • We must not allow the president, congress or any foreign entity to use the lives of our troops for political gain. Using our troops in this way is an abuse of the patriotism our troops have towards our nation.
  • Veterans should not be abandoned and denied the help they deserve. Legislation should not create obstacles for medical treatment, retirement or civic duties that our veterans and their families deserve.
